John Guild Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR), recognizes that patriotism begins with citizenship. We strive to be a good citizen in many ways, such as exercising our right to vote, honoring and supporting our veterans who served for the freedom and defense of our country, proudly flying the Flag of the United States of America and the Missouri flag, and serving our community. Not only do we take our patriotism personally, but we make efforts to recognize and congratulate those in our community who are grand examples of patriotism. We love and are loyal to our country, our state, and our local community.
Wreaths Across America
In 2020, Wreaths Across America designated the John Guild Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR), a Region 3 Group Coordinator for Russell Heights Cemetery and the City Cemetery in Jackson, Missouri. Approximately 1,400 veterans rest at these two cemeteries, including veterans of the Revolutionary War and Civil War. In the first three years, our chapter members, community members and business leaders through their generosity enabled the chapter to meet their 1,400 goal to have a wreath at every veteran’s gravesite. The local Wreaths Across America Ceremony is held yearly and in conjunction with the Arlington National Cemetery Ceremony.
The next wreaths placement will be on December 14, 2024, at 11 a.m.
Wreath placement will immediately follow two simultaneous ceremonies, one at the Jackson City Cemetery and one at Russell Heights Cemetery. We welcome the public to join us at either ceremony to remember and honor our veterans by laying remembrance wreaths on the graves of our country’s deceased veterans.
We appreciate all who help us sponsor remembrance wreaths. To do so, visit our Wreaths Across America to make a donation.
Veterans Day
John Guild Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR), participates in the annual Veterans Day Parade in Jackson, Missouri to express our gratitude and appreciation to the brave men and women who fought and sacrificed for our liberty and freedom, and to recognize the support of their families. If you are a veteran, we salute you.
DAR Distinguished Citizen Medal
John Guild Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR), has been honored to present the DAR Distinguished Citizen Medal to individuals or to groups that exemplify the qualities of honor, service, courage, leadership, and patriotism. Highlighting worthy stories of these contributions of defense, security, or freedom in our community, state, or nation, inspires and encourages others to follow their example.
